FAMILY: Mother's Day Layout

Hi guys!

I'm back to bring you a mixed media layout that's full of elements and textures!
This was actually a commission work from an Instagram follower of mine *squeals* for a Mother's Day gift.

My layout was inspired by the following 2 scrapbook challenges.
You can simply click on the image to find out more about their rules and prizes.

TA-DA! This was my first time playing with 49 & Market's supplies. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of their papers! It's really thick so it's awesome for mixed media since the weight would prevent the paper from warping.

As this layout was going into a dimensional shadow box. I decided to go all out with the layering and making it as dimensional as the shadow box allows.

I love how it turns out and so does the buyer of this layout.
I hope her parents will love it too!

Till next post...Cheers!

Mother's Day Layout with Fabrika Decoru Supplies

Hi guys!

It's Mabel here and I'm back with a layout I made especially for Mother's Day using the collection 'Especially for Her'. See the pun there? This collection is wonderfully appropriate for Mother's Day with the sweet color scheme and pretty blooms available to fussy-cut.

My layout is inspired by this month's Fabrika Decoru's challenge and More than Words challenge. For more information, click on the image below, it'll direct you straight to the challenge post. You can also check out wonderful samples from other designers as well!

Ta-da! The final look came out a little different from what I had imagine but nonetheless, I still love it! It was simple, clean-cut and yet full of details. It came out a little different from the moodboard, but it's okay, since it's up to one's imagination right?

I had use my markers in black and white to create some additional interest to the background and to write my greetings. Sometimes, freehand drawing looks so much better than stamped images.

See the bricks on the background, I had created it using acrylic paints and makeup sponge, by stamping it over the stencil. Since my background is dark, it is important to use paints with certain degree of opaqueness such that the colors will pop.

Isn't the white-washed, grainy looking background gorgeous? I had created that effect using my palette knife and heavy white gesso. Simply pick up some gesso on the flat side of the palette knife and press it down on the paper to tap of the excess. Once you have minimal amount of gesso on your palette knife, swipe it across your background to create this distress look. Control the amount of gesso you use depending on how 'grainy' you want your background to be!

That's all for this post!
Just a quick shout out to everyone out there, it's Mother's Day soon, do spend some quality time with your family!

Cheers!

Sweet Baby Girl Mini Album with Fabrika Decoru's Supplies

Hi Guys!
It's Mabel here and I'm back to share with you a cute little album I made with Fabrika Decoru's new collection, Sweet Baby Girl.

Remember I did a mixed media box a few post back? Click HERE to see it.
So I was inspired to create something that fit in the box, hence the idea of making an album came up. It was such a coincidence that I happened to receive a 8 x 8 inches paper pad from the Sweet Baby Girl collection, so I made full use of it.

I had challenged myself to use only the papers from that collection. I did cheat a little adding some extra embellishments of my own but I promised this album is 99% from the new collection. It goes to show how little supplies are needed to create something pretty.

Altered Beer Bottle with Fabrika Decoru's Products

Hi Guys!

I'm super excited to show you my altered piece - Mixed Media Vase made from a beer bottle!

My inspiration of this mixed media vase came from my desire to find something to how these pretty dried flowers I have gotten. I realized the vases I had in my house were too modern or unsuitable for these flowers. So with a beer on my hand, I was inspired to create something from scratch and something that was rustic and grungy in contract with the femininity of the flowers.
